Each week, I will post questions, thoughts and links for you to read and make comments about. Each student can respond to a minimum of twice weekly. This can be counted as extra credit. Let me know if you have any questions about the current events blog. This can be done during our class time or you can work from home. As we explore many different aspects of reading, writing, and current events, I think you will enjoy reading a variety of articles.

What do you think about Christina Aguilera messing up the anthem?
I was genuinely surprised that she did not know the words, and disappointed that she was singing a song that represents our country and we as Americans!! What did you think? http://www.wistv.com/Global/story.asp?S=13980015

I didn't really notice Christina mess up. I was just kind of in a daze. It doesn't matter as long as she sang the anthem. She did good overall. Better than what I could ever do!!! Hahah :D
I watched the video on you tube. Christina should have been able to do a lot better than that. I wonder what she felt like when she realized she had messed up. I bet that would have benn terrible and really embarrassing.
I think she should have been able to do i9t correctly since she said that she had been performing it since she was 7.In class I was thinking,'If youve been performing it since you were why did you mess up?I mean its your country's national anthem and you screwed it up.Have you been messing it up since you were 7?' She worked so hard to make it sound 'good' even though i really wasnt impressed at all.
I think that she could and should have done alot better than what she did but for the most part she did a good job try to make a come back and was not that bad I have heard people sing worst then her in my life and some people I know don't even know the national anthem so for the most part she did a good job and if she would not some of the football players would not have tears in their eyes when she sang the anthem.
I think that is pretty bad. If you started singing it at the age of seven, you should know it by now! You especially shouldn't sing a song you don't know in front of thousands of people. Not knowing the National Anthem really represented our country for the worse!
I noticed that she messed up. It was horrible to mess up the national anthem in front of so many people. One of the players in the backgrounds expression was priceless right after she messed up.
I didn't watch the Super Bowl, but that is a discrace to our country! Hopefully everyone else knows it. She had a year in advanced to practice, come on.
I think it is a shame when you as an American mess up the national anthem. I mean can you get any dumber? If you dont know the national anthem you should decline to sing it. Even I know the national anthem. That just goes to show you stars definately don't rely on their brains much.
How did she mess up the National Anthem? She lives here doesn't she? I do feel a little bit of sympathy for her though because she probably has a lot of people on her case.
I think if she was singing it at seven years old, she was singing it in the shower. I would hope that if she was singing it around people they would at least try to correct her.
i think that it is funny that she sang the wrong lyrics to the National Anthem because she said that she was singing it at 7 years old. That just shows how much famous people in America lie.
I didn't even get to watch the Super Bowl, and it seems like that's all people talk about, so it had to of been pretty bad. But she should of mastered the song if she had been singing it since she was 7. People, especially celebrities, have to learn that if they are going to do something in front of people like that, they should practice all day!(Not literally.)I'm gonna watch it on youtube and I'll get back to ya.
I think Christina Aguilera is a horrible American because she sang for the super bowl and doesn't even know the national anthem! I mean the black eyed peas know all their songs!
I think she was just nervous. I don't blame her because, she knew she was singing (in person and through television) in front of half the country. I would probably mess up too, so I don't think people should be so hard on her.
i don't really think its her fault because people are human and we all make mistakes the best thingto do is make them better. Maybe, She cah try again next year if they let her :).

I thought it was awful. Really if you are going to sing infront of thousands of people then i think you need to know the words of the national anthem.

ohhhhh yeah...
It was pretty noticable that she messed up. It was very surprising that someone doesnt know their own national anthem.
The only mess up in the anthem was the part when she said parolous flight that was the only one i heard.
I think she was too worried about sounding good that she lost her place and just flubed up.
I can't belive it she mast up the anthem.

Didnt even notice that, but do think that she should of known the words of the song that represents America. I still think she did a good job.

I think that is awful considering it is the song that represents America. And I really didn't think she even sang it that good.

I think that its kinda bad that that she has sung the song so much and then just messes up so bad.
I think Christina Aguilera is a horrible American because she sang for the super bowl and doesn't even know the national anthem! I mean the black eyed peas know all their songs!
yea it was bad!! the worse thing i have ever heard her but she played it off well.:))
She was ok ._.
I think she was just nervous. I don't blame her because, she knew she was singing (in person and through television) in front of half the country. I would probably mess up too, so I don't think people should be so hard on her.
